Yaou Ren is an attorney at Rock Trade Law LLC, where he assists clients with customs and international trade matters.
He received his J.D. cum laude from Georgia State University College of Law, where he earned certificates in Law and Development and Intellectual Property Law. During law school, he served as Vice President of the Intellectual Property Law Society and was a member of the team that won first place in the 2022 National Patent Application Drafting Competition hosted by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Prior to joining Rock Trade Law, he worked as an intellectual property lawyer where he supported pharmaceutical, technology, and manufacturing clients in patent litigation and conducted due diligence for mergers and acquisitions. He also assisted with licensing deals, reviewed various contracts, and supported litigation through legal research and analysis related to patentability, infringement, and FDA-related matters. He also previously served as a judicial intern at the State Court of Forsyth County in Georgia.
He holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Florida International University, where he conducted research on DNA repair and genomic instability, and earned a B.S. in a public health-related field from Sichuan University in China.
His combined legal and scientific background informs his approach to complex trade issues with analytical precision and a global perspective. He is particularly adept at interpreting highly technical documents and translating scientific or engineering concepts into actionable legal strategies. Yaou is fluent in Mandarin and English and is licensed to practice law in the District of Columbia.
