Tariff Threats for Pharma, Trucks, Cabinets and Furniture

On September 25, 2025, President Trump announced via TruthSocial the forthcoming imposition of three new tariffs covering pharmaceuticals, kitchen cabinets, and heavy trucks. These measures will take effect on October 1, 2025, and represent an expansion in the administration's increasingly extensive list of proposed tariff modifications.

The President stated that the administration “will be imposing a 100% Tariff on any branded or patented Pharmaceutical Product, unless a Company IS BUILDING their Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Plant in America.” The President then went on to say “that there will be no Tariff on these Pharmaceutical Products if construction has started.”

The President issued another announcement imposing a “50% Tariff on all Kitchen Cabinets, Bathroom Vanities, and associated products.” In addition to “charging a 30% Tariff on Upholstered Furniture.” The President stated “the reason for this is the large-scale “FLOODING” of these products into the United States by other outside Countries.” The President believes this “flooding” to be an “unfair practice” and the move is an effort to protect “National Security and… Manufacturing process.”

Finally, the President took aim to “protect our Great Heavy Truck Manufacturers from unfair outside competition,” by imposing a “25% Tariff on all “Heavy (Big!) Trucks” made in other parts of the World.” The move is stated to be an effort by the administration to protect domestic producers of heavy trucks and protect national security.

Additional details concerning the new tariffs will likely follow by Executive Order. As of the publication of this advisory, an official announcement by a relevant agency or by the President on these actions have yet to be published.
